Early pollen from willow and hazel along the river Kennet, woodland flowers, rape from all the arable farms around us, and then the trees in flower and all their aphids producing nectar.
Our bees love our ground. We make sure our farm practice helps the bees and we sow clover and sainfoin and other wild flowers in our fields and in the corners and margins.
Bees are really like other farm animals – they need to be looked after and the better you treat them the better their product. I can confidently assert that our English honey is as good as it gets but it is fairly rare and precious and therefore we do not really sell it.
